Pass On This Book

I am always hesitant to leave a negative review on a product, but this is a book you just shouldn't purchase. I own a website design / SEO business and try to stay on top of new information, so I bought a couple of books to see what folks are doing that I may not be on top of in the SEO world. Without going into great detail, here are my main issues with this book.

First, I'm assuming this is a self-published book. The spelling and grammar throughout the book are fraught with significant errors, to the degree this quickly becomes a distraction and difficult to read. For me, this is a surprise since the author apparently has his Ph.D., I expect more from someone with this level of education.

Second, assuming a reader is looking for detailed information on SEO how-to in this book for SEO, this book doesn't have it, even for beginners. It is full of broad, sweeping statements and little to no details on the actual process of incorporating effective SEO into a plan. The generic information is repeated to fill content but empty of real information.

I'm giving this two stars instead of one because if you are a total beginner to search engine optimization, you may pick up a theory or idea that you can research in other places for details. With this said, I certainly wouldn't recommend this book to anyone of any level of understanding. There are many better options on Amazon to learn from.

This is a powerful resource not just on SEO but for growing a business. It covers all the essential information on SEO, also covers local marketing and even pay-per-click campaigns. Some areas are covered, but looks like this was on purpose, everything is easy to understand and it doesn't make you fall asleep like reading an encyclopedia. For me, I feel as though I gained a valuable, all encompassing picture of SEO and it will help me to create a strategy to move forward with ranking goals!

I found this amazing and helpful guidebook few weeks ago and by the help of it, I have learned all the ins and outs of SEO. This is an upgraded version book and here I got all the latest info, methods and guidance. This book taught me how to use link properly to avoid being penalized. Reading it entirely I have understood about the importance of keyword research. It showed me about how to track my SEO efforts and what to do, where to keep change, what to avoid, what to follow and many more things.

Finally, James Baldwin forces her out of isolation and insists that she accompany him to a dinner party—where the idea for writing I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is born. The impact of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (which evoked the author's adolescence and sexual abuse in Arkansas) was unprecedented. It combined frankness and emotional force with a nuanced, poetic style--a style that Angelou has perhaps found more elusive recently. But it's here again, as affecting as ever. The book deals with the years 1964-68, a turbulent period in which Angelou came back to America after her African sojourn. This, of course, was the time of the assassinations of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King; Angelou was on the point of working with the latter in the civil rights movement. Adult/High School-Far from a textbook account, this final volume in the writer's series of six memoirs takes readers into the heart of the civil rights movement. Angelou begins in 1964. When she replanted her feet in America to help Malcolm X, she admittedly left a piece of her heart in Ghana with her son. She was also developing artistically during this time, and finding the means by which to express herself to her country and in her community. Any YA who has aimed to accomplish something meaningful and met with personal loss or the disappointment of bad timing, will identify with her. Before she was able to help Malcolm X form the Organization of African-American Unity, he was assassinated. Her mother and protective brother buttressed her spirits, and encouraged her to move forward. From San Francisco to Hawaii and back to California she takes readers into an economically depressed area in Los Angeles before, during, and after it burned. Her next giant step will be appreciated by YAs with an artistic side. She describes performing and writing plays for an African-American theater. Later, after she moved to New York, her pal James Baldwin and others instrumental in changing the view of America in the 1960s are featured prominently. History was in the making and Angelou was in the midst of it as this worthwhile autobiography attests.

If you are an Angelou fan, that is, you've read all of her autobiographical work and are familiar with a wide range of her poetry and essays, then you are bound to be torn by her latest autobiographical piece, "A Sung Flung Up To Heaven." Although the writing is vibrant and accessible as usual, her story seems to be missing any new insights, or wisdom. There is very little in this writing that she hasn't said in previous accounts. There were sections of the book that appeared to be reiterated from previous work, yet the author seems to hold back when writing about the death of Malcom X and Dr. M. L. King. I thought for sure that Angelou's memory of those events would be told with more vivid detail and personal reflection.
Overall, the book is an easy and interesting read. As a huge fan, I'm always excited to devour any of Angelou's work. I'm usually fully satiated by the experience, in this case however; I'm not as full as I could be and another helping of Angelou is in order.

First let me say that I am a huge Maya Angelou fan! I couldn't wait to add "A Sung Flung Up to Heaven" to my library. When it arrived, I poured a cup of tea and dug in. When I finished, I felt a little cheated. It seemed that she rushed through this book, leaving me wanting more. It's a lovely book overall, but I expected more detail, more artistry... more Maya... in this final installment. I wanted more personal perspective on her relationships with Malcolm X and Dr. King. I'm still a big fan, but this book missed the mark a bit for me.

"Karamustafa's new work is easily the best book I've read on the subject of early Sufism. The author does a fine job of combining analysis with synthesis, and he incorporates into his historical overview a generous sampling of the stories of a significant number of major characters. Perhaps the greatest achievement is Karamustafa's skill in making an immensely complex and potentially amorphous topic understandable. Great Cookbook. Plus Read Review for a Solution to Your Binding Woes

I really like the Well Fed series cookbooks. As far as content goes...this one very possibly has the most recipes that we'll actually make of the three cookbooks. Although we like to cook, like everybody, it seems like there's never enough spare time to cook as much as we'd like. So, a cookbook focused on recipes that take less time is a welcome addition. We've looked through the whole thing, and have made several things. I also find it interesting that the author has picked some of the same types of recipes that we've independently found work very well on those time-crunched nights [homemade taco meat is delicious and very simple even when using actual spices and not a 'packet', and of course grilled burgers with salad, etc.].

Trying to keep the carbs down, I AM IN LOVE WITH the cauliflower-based 'rice' and 'mashed potatoes' substitute recipes that we learned about in Well Fed 2 (page 167). This book uses those ingredients in several dishes such as "Shepherd's Pie" (page 123) and "Dirty Rice" (page 129)...and I literally see no reason to ever eat potatoes or rice ever again! I also really liked the Sticky Orange Sunflower Chicken with Sesame Broccoli (page 173). If you are thinking of doing more low-carb and/or Paleo cooking, I strongly recommend that you check out this book and Well Fed 2 (with Nom Nom Paleo also being pretty good).

Now on the subject of the binding: Yeah, not sure *what* is up with that binding, but it is strange and leaves a lot to be desired. A couple of others are reporting pages falling out. That hasn't happened with ours, but if you leave the book laying open, the cover doesn't return to flat...it kinda sits there all curved around the spine of the book. And is really just funky. I saw a recommendation here by someone to get it spiral bound at an office supply or print store, and this was great advice. I just took it down to Staples, and it was only $5.50 to cut off the old binding and put a plastic spiral binding on the cookbook. It now works *better* than when it was brand new, as it lays truly flat now (see my uploaded image)! I am guessing that at some point the publisher and printer will fix this binding issue, but I'm actually glad that I've made this 'upgrade'...makes using the book much easier.

My wife wants me to tell everyone on Amazon that a great cookbook with a poor binding is still WAY better than the opposite. This way, however, you can have the best of both worlds!

Update 12/14/16: We've made several more things from this cookbook, and I've liked everything except for one recipe that called for ground up anchovy (Sicilian Cauliflower w/ Beef page 73...tried to be 'open' to new flavors...but no thank you). I really liked the Yucatan Green Chile Saute with Cumin-Lime Sauce (page 101) and the Greens with Potatoes & Sausage (page 111). I thought the Chicken Satay Burger was decent as well...I would have it again...but maybe not on my list of absolute favorites from this cookbook. Anyway, we're really enjoying these new meals, and some new recipes that don't take a really long time to make.

My new favourite. I was sceptical to buy another paleo cookbook,I have so many that I seldom use, and little room to keep them. I was pleasantly surprised to see this book is packed with appealing( to my whole family) recipes, with flavours I wouldn't think to put together myself, that are easy, with easy to find ingredients. The best part is, everything Ive made, has tasted really good!

I'm very happy with this book.

so this is one of the most awesome cookbooks ever. I already bought a second one as a gift. In here you will find what we've come to expect in the well-fed series...delicious inventive recipes with ideas to create even more inventive variations. But the best best best part is the section she calls the "food court". This is how i cook. Recipe templates with ideas for endless variation. For example, Just whipped up a batch of tuna salad and then made the harvest variation and asian cashew variation plus invented a sante fe version of my own. Now I can pack tuna salad to work for the next two days but still never eat the same meal twice! These recipe templates alone are worth the price of the book even if you don't make any of the other recipes. But you will want to make the other recipes too, trust me. This is my favorite of the Well Fed series and it is already going to be one of my "go to" cookbooks every week. Oh the other gem in here is to get a white board and write up your home menus like a restaurant would -- brilliant and fun!!
