I know it will be rough... but I can bring this baby up by myself... I don’t need either of you”

A good compendium to the Book of Concord

This is a good summary of Lutheran theology as found in the Book of Concord (Lutheran Confessions). I found it helpful to have read this before I tried reading the Book of Concord. It does not much go into any historical background for the Reformation era documents.

After reading the reviews and the sample I expected a book with hot sex and some unusual situations. But this far exceeded my wildest dreams and expectations. Usually I prefer erotic stories to have romance but that wasn't necessary here.

The reason I say that is Ms. Black develops the characters of Chloe and Mark so wonderfully before and during their chance meting that you just know they are going to get busy with nothing but lust on thier agendas. What sets this book apart from other erotic tales I have read, however, is the last act that takes place before everyone is sexually satisfied. No spoiler but if you are not blown away by it, then you must be a real life Chloe!

The sex scenes themselves are also written in a manner not usually found in most erotic stories. The reader doesn't just get a play by play account of who did what to the other's body part. Ms. Black will take you into the mind of the lovers so the reader can understand what these characters are thinking and emotionally feeling as well as being in the throes of passion or in orgasmic bliss. These characteristics are expressed very well for Chloe, Mark, and Mikki, a third character introduced later in the story.

It was mentioned to try to read this with one hand on the Kindle. I am saving this book and I may need to learn that talent next time! What a fantastic read, especially when you want hot sexual scenes. Absolutely worth the time and price!

In the beginning, Ms. Black had me wondering what Chloe is capable of. What does she like? As I kept reading, there was no disappointment! Chloe satisfies her partners and the reader!

Is there a DLFD Part 2 in the works? I sure hope so, because the adventures of Chloe Sykes will never be boring!

I was drawn head first into the preview and HAD to buy the full book. Wow. You will literally be all sorts of hot and bothered by reading just the first few chapter. I had no idea that you anyone could describe such an experience with all the nitty gritty details down to the tee. I had to take a shower afterwards to feel clean. Hot as hell and worth every penny. Dance with the Devil is a no holds barred, very candid look at the life of a very interesting man, Bernie Lau. Bernie tells many thrilling stories regarding his eight years in the Navy stationed inside submarines, but the bulk of the book is a riveting account of his life as a narcotic under-cover cop in Chinatown while working for the Seattle Police Department. The author leaves no stone unturned and goes into great detail. This is a fast paced action based memoir of his life. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and is hard to put down. There are many first time stories revealed about the underworld life of drug dealers and CIs, that take on a personal life of their own.

I first meet Bernie in San Diego back in the early 1980s at a week long martial art seminar hosted by F.J. Lovret sensei. We seemed to hit it off really good, but I lost contact with him for many years. So I'm very glad to discover that my old friend has finally written a fantastic book about his life. This is an action packed book that I highly recommend it to all.

Sensei Bernie Lau has been Sensei,friend and mentor since 1985...we have shared many interesting discussions and training sessions together over the years...this book is an exciting and very descriptive look into the story of a truly "larger than life" man. Early life,navy experiences,Aikido training and event's as well as the world of under cover police work and more are included in this autobiography...this read is not to be missed if you want to see a gritty and fully lived life of an amazing individual!

The best plastic surgery book

The best Plastic Surgery textbook I have ever read till today. I read it in a library outside my country as this book is not available here in Bangladesh due to the price. However, it's my dream to have one but don't know how it could be. I have a photocopy version of previous 2nd edition from where I have learned my surgery and acquired knowledge. I was amazed seeing the new edition and read how much I can. Really it's a classic book of Plastic Surgery.

The story holds up better than most popular fiction because of its balance between sentimentality and darker elements and especially through the attention to detail about daily life in Santa Vittoria. Even though the characters rarely rise above caricature and the young lovers are tiresome, Crichton's village is vividly credible. Likewise, Hurt's reading is better during the narrative portions; the accents he bestows upon the characters make them more caricatured. ROBERT CRICHTON (1925-1993) an American novelist, served in the infantry during World War II and was wounded in 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he attended Harvard University on the GI Bill. His bestseller, The Great Imposter, was adapted into a successful film. His novel The Secret of Santa Vittoria was on the New York Times bestseller list for over fifty weeks, became an international bestseller, and was adapted into a Golden Globe winning film of the same name in 1969.

I bought this book on a pavement in Bombay and have read it a dozen times since. Santa Vittoria, a small hill town in Italy, struggles to hide their most precious possession from the occupying Germans, a million bottles of fat black wine. Consequently, in the struggle between the methodical, self procalimed 'superior-raced' Germans and the uncouth, seemingly naive but clever Italians, the latter manage to hide the wine and keep it too. The Nazi captain Von Prum tries to find the hidden wine till the last day of his departure from the little town, but the secret lies safely in the hearts of the people, for whom wine is their life and blood. A cleverly written book, with subtle humour and insights into workings of an Italian mind, The Secret of SV makes one wonder why it isn't in the list of the so-called "popular, best read" lists.

A Great (lost?) Treasure

I simply echo the others - read this book - it is wonderful.
It's full of the drama and comedy of life, like a fine play. Yes - the characters can be seen as stereotypes, but more often they evolve into a rich complexity, as their lives and ideals clash. Their close community and common dangers propel them through a suspensefull and wryly narrated struggle. Like Steinbeck, Crichton crafts the events of a time to work changes on people and force out their best, and so the tale inspires. I read it years ago, and reread it, and then gave it away. Now I have regained it (used), and find myself again rereading it. Why in heaven's name is this book out of print?

This is a wonderful book. I've read it at least 4 times and I don't generally reread books. I agree with the two other reviewers. Why isn't this book still in print? It is a great book for book clubs to read as it raises so many questions of honor, right and wrong, ethics etc., etc. Great discussion material! How do we contact the publisher to make our feelings known? There must be others who feel the same way!

A Worthwhile Journey

This book provides a thorough survey of pretty much all the arts (not just visual arts) using plenty of well-chosen examples, many examined in some depth.

The organization of the book generally has a chapter for each art form, with each chapter mostly organized into various themes. This complements other books organized according to an historical approach.

By the time one has progressed through the journey of the entire book, the diligent reader should come away enriched with new perspectives on life and reality.

The one downside of the book, which isn't minor, is that I found much of the writing to be unnecessarily complicated and tedious. I'm not saying that the authors needed to "dumb it down," but I do think they could have conveyed their message much more clearly without compromising its substance. It's as though they just adopted a clunky, somewhat highbrow style at the outset, got used to it, and than ran with it all the way through the book, forgetting the needs and wants of their audience in the process. Lest one think I'm being too critical, consider the book The Annotated Mona Lisa: A Crash Course in Art History from Prehistoric to Post-Modern, which is both enlightening and a joy to read.

The above issue brings my rating down to 4 stars, but I still certainly recommend the book because of the considerable value it brings to the reader. Just be prepared to be genuinely attentive as you read it. Your investment of time and effort will be well rewarded.
